A new website that seeks to raise awareness to tire-originated microplastics, road wear particles (TRWP) and their detriment to ecology and human wellbeing has been launched by The European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA). The website also highlights a study by the ETRMA-launched TRWP platform that presented its conclusions earlier this June. The highlight of the study is the finding that 2-5% of particles generated on roads can reach estuaries.

The port of Danish Nyborg will host a tire pyrolysis facility that will be able to produce over 9,000 tons of recovered carbon black annually through recycling of some 30,000 tons of scrap tires per year. This project is seen as a major step made to advance circular business model in Denmark. The ambitious plan is to be carried out by the Danish tire pyrolysis operator Elysium Nordic.

This event is considered one of the most important for the tire recycling sector in the region, according to the Latin American Conference official website, and is held as part of the larger XV Latin American Conference on Rubber Technology.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) – a Swedish tire pyrolysis equipment designer and operator – and a global tire manufacturer Michelin have signed three definitive agreements that form the basis of the companies’ strategic partnership. The agreements regulate the terms for a jointly owned plant for the end-of-life tire pyrolysis in Chile, the terms and conditions for Michelin’s use of Enviro’s patented technology, and payment for this, and the terms and conditions for payment to Enviro for deliveries of technology and services to the jointly owned plant in Chile. Before the agreements can enter into force, they must be approved by Enviro’s owners at an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). Notice of the EGM will be published separately.

Attempting to cut costs while launching a tire recycling or pyrolysis business, young companies often fall prey to low-quality equipment manufacturers whose equipment does not correspond to their promises. Typically, such a low quality equipment has far more attractive prices and very often it comes from Asian countries, where labor costs are still very low. Despite the low price, such an equipment can kill a young pyrolysis company or significantly undermine it’s operation.
