The topic Mr. Weibold's presented was called "European Management of End-of-Life Tires: Management Systems, Status Quo, Trends, Reaching Circularity."

A British magazine Tyre and Rubber Recycling says the UK ELT exports to India still at its highest rates, despite the restrictive end-of-life tire exports policy recently imposed in the United Kingdom. Figures obtained by Tyre and Rubber Recycling show that tyre exports to India from the UK remain as high as they ever were, if not higher, the magazine highlights.

India-based Social Action and Environment Group (SAPE) that has been campaigning for prohibition of hazardous types of tire recycling in the Asian state received support from the British Tyre Recovery Association (TRA). Group CNJ, headquartered in Ahmedabad, India, is investing $3.5 million in a new tire recycling facility in Melbourne, Australia, as part of its global expansion strategy. The new site will be equipped with Fornnax Technology’s advanced shredding equipment, including the SR 150 primary shredder and R4000 secondary shredder, enabling the facility to process 10 tonnes of tires per hour, with an annual capacity of 55,000 tonnes. The plant is expected to be operational by March 2025 and will produce high-quality steel-free rubber chips.

Reportedly, the fire that broke out in the morning, around 10:00, and covered the entire unit within several minutes. At the time of the incident, the unit was closed due to lockdown in response to spreading COVID-19. Due to decreasing demand from downstream industries like electronics, packaging, and rubber, the pricing trend for Masterbatch in the local Indian market has been bearish. Black Masterbatch (40% carbon black) cost $1977 per ton in India in January 2023 but fell to $1770 per ton in February 2023, a 10.5% decrease. Due to declining naphtha and coal prices in the domestic Indian market, prices decreased further by 6.9% to $1648 per ton in March 2023.
