Ecolomondo Corporation – a Canadian supplier of thermal decomposition process technologies for end-of-life-tires – announced that it has selected Maylan Group Inc. of Hawkesbury, Ontario, to construct the building that would house its new Thermal Decomposition Process (TDP) turnkey facility to be located in Hawkesbury, Ontario. The Company and the Contractor have recently signed a binding Design-Build contract with a not-to-exceed price of $6.6 million, with substantial completion expected by January 15, 2020.

The proposed cooperation includes adding capacity in Monterrey for the processing of an additional 1 million passenger tires and developing further tire recycling and pyrolysis facilities in other Mexican states, including Guadalajara. IVR said the partnership would use ProDynamics’ nationwide tire distribution network to access end-of-life tires and convert them into renewable products such as pyrolysis oil, carbon black, recycled steel and gas. The companies said the project is intended to reduce emissions from end-of-life tires that would otherwise end up in landfills while supporting circular economy solutions in the regions where ProDynamics operates.

The move comes after the Austrian firm earlier presented its innovative way of tire recycling that seeks to recycle rubber from tires into solid carbon, also known as recovered carbon black. Alternatively, the method allows getting a hydrocarbon mixture like pyrolysis oil and gas. Apart from commercial application of recycled products, the process is of value as it is totally in line with circular economy’s principles and it does not require external energy sources.

Commissioned in 2023 as part of WasteServ’s broader site upgrade, the facility centers on Gradeall’s tire baling and handling systems, designed to process both passenger and commercial tires into compact, transport-ready bales for export to mainland recycling facilities.
