Tire pyrolysis company Pyrolyx A.G. has delisted from the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) as well as the Dusseldorf and Frankfurt stock markets following a prolonged closure of its processing plants in the U.S. and Germany. In a trading update, Pyrolyx said it had delisted from ASX following "failure to pay its annual listing fees by the due date." In addition, the company said it had notified German markets on Aug. 21 about delisting and said it expected the delisting to be effective by the end of that month.

Pascal Klein, CEO and largest single shareholder of Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum), held a total of 4,000 Pyrum shares on July 31, 2023 sold over the counter (OTC) to the member of the Supervisory Board Jürgen Opitz. Mr. Opitz thus increases his shareholding slightly and, including attributable shares, holds around 8% of Pyrum. Pascal Klein continues to hold around 10% of the company. The transaction was executed as an OTC transaction at a purchase price of EUR 50.00 per share and thus around 3.7% above the average of the last five trading days before the conclusion on Xetra (EUR 48.23). Pyrolyx is a company specializing in recovered carbon black, tire-derived oil and steel production – these are the byproducts of scrap tire pyrolysis that are considered valuable for industrial use. For instance, recovered carbon black can be used in manufacturing of new tires and as colorant in synthetic rubber production.

SIGNUS, the major Spanish EPR program, has announced an adjustment in the structure of tire categories in the pricing table, which was detailed by Gabriel Leal, the General Director, and Julián Madruga, the Director of Relationships with Affiliated Companies. SIGNUS tariffs have been structured based on the use of the tyre rather than its unit weight since its inception. This methodology allowed for subjective interpretations, producing market confusion. As a result, and in accordance with the notion of fairness, SIGNUS' Board of Directors has approved a reformulation of the categories based on weight sections of the new tyre in order to adjust the relevant tariff more objectively.

Grupo Soledad, a parent company of the Spanish tire retreading firm Insa Turbo, has grown in the last years and shown some great results in circular economy advancement. It produces tire retreads at Insa Turbo’s retread manufacturing plant at Aspe that actually has expanded and now serves not only as a facility where retreads are made. The Group has its tire retreading plant — annually, the plant turns back to life some 200,000 tires of various types and makes OTR retreads. The corporation also looks for the ways to boost retread sale. For instance, Grupo Soledad tries to do so by teaming up with Continental that sends all its casing to the group’s site at Aspe, so the two can produce quality retreads.

The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) announced its new Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting of members held on June 14, 2023. At that meeting, the members elected Lawrence Kumar of Yokohama Tire (Canada) as a new Director. Based in Langley, B.C., Mr. Kumar has over two decades of experience in the tire industry and is currently the Controller at Yokohama Tire (Canada). “We welcome Lawrence to the TRAC Board. His business experience and knowledge are sure to be of great value to TRAC in the coming years,” says Paul Downey, President and CEO of Pliteq, and TRAC Chair of the Board.

German end-of-life tire pyrolysis operator Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) has started series delivery of recovered carbon black (rCB) to Ralf Bohle GmbH, manufacturer of German bicycle tire brand Schwalbe. According to Pyrum, the delivery will close the loop “completely” for Schwalbe, which collects end-of-life tires through its recently launched recycling system and supplies them to Pyrum for further processing.
