Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) has presented a new innovative project that coverts scrap tires into durable, quality concrete for the Sports Turf Industry. This solution for recycled tires has been named Golfelx, the TSA reported on its social media accounts. Golflex uses waste tires and recycles them into rubber crumb that is used in golf development projects. This application is ingeniously used in bunkers as it can improve sand bunker drainage and it has a positive environmental impact.

TSA reports that tire giant Hankook is the latest manufacturer to partner with Tyre Stewardship Australia in a commitment to the responsible disposal of end-of-life tires. The Hankook Tire & Technology Group announced in the end of July it is the newest contributor to the National Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme, taking the total number of importers to nine. Hankook Managing Director Ted Choi said the decision to sign up to the Scheme was recognition of the work of TSA and its achievements. “By cultivating win-win relationships like this one with Tyre Stewardship Australia, Hankook shows it too is a leader in preserving and protecting the environment for the next generation – a responsibility we take seriously,” Mr Choi explained.

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) reports that more than 1240 end-of-life truck tires have been diverted from landfill, turned into crumb rubber, and used to repair roads across six Tasmanian municipalities in a partnership between Fulton Hogan and Tyre Stewardship Australia. TSA says it is the first-time bitumen modified with end-of-life tire material – which included the equivalent of 40,000 beer bottles of recycled glass, as well as the end-of-life truck tires – has been used in Tasmania. Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) wants to find new markets for products made out of scrap tire rubber by collaborating with innovative manufacturers. The body has already set up its Market Development Fund that provides assistance to local entrepreneurs.
