According to Swedish Tyre Recycling (Svensk Däckåtervinning AB, SDAB), the company has been working with balance since 1994, and this year marks their 30th anniversary. The company focuses on aligning society’s need for resources with the planet’s renewable capacity to promote a sustainable existence. This involves using existing resources for longer periods with minimal modification, particularly in areas where virgin extraction would have significant consequences.

The development of each tire model involves substantial effort to meet society's high demands for various properties such as wet grip, dry grip, wear resistance, elasticity, temperature insensitivity, chemical bonding ability, electrical and thermal insulation, UV resistance, low rolling resistance, and durability. These properties are also valuable in other contexts, such as playground safety, energy storage, and 3D printing.

Through chemical processes like pyrolysis and devulcanization, tires can be transformed into new raw materials and non-fossil energy sources. Since its inception, Swedish Tyre Recycling has aimed to ensure tires are disposed of properly while also striving to climb the waste hierarchy. As tire collection methods and recycling knowledge have evolved, the company has found new ways to create value.

In 2023, Swedish Tyre Recycling took a significant step by coordinating the business from collection to marketing and sales of recycled raw material. This new approach sets the stage for the next 30 years, promising increased benefits, a more positive environmental impact, and higher economic returns. The company aims to be a role model in developing strategies and actions that support a more sustainable society.

"Welcome to Swedish Tyre Recycling 30 years!" said Fredrik Ardefors, CEO.
