Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) – a Swedish tire pyrolysis equipment manufacturer and operator – reports it has received an order for 60 tons of recovered carbon black from a major European tire manu-facturer in the premium segment. Reportedly, the tire manufacturer will use the carbon black for produc-tion tests as a step in its efforts to increase the proportion of recovered and renewable materials in their tires.

The three day event will take place from Monday through to Wednesday 30 May - 1 June 2022 at LE LOUISE Hotel Brussels. The Conference is the culmination of a year-long series of ETRA-led and supported activities and events that focused on market development and expansion for a broad array of recycled tire materials, products and applications.

Italian man-made textiles manufacturer Fulgar is promoting its most experimental innovation yet, which aims to establish a cross-industry recycling standard. The groundbreaking new yarn is the result of a collaboration between Fulgar’s textile expertise with a German chemical company, BASF, which has created a new process called ChemCycling™.

Bridgestone Corporation – a global tire manufacturer – announced the launch of a joint research and development program with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Tohoku University, ENEOS Corporation and JGC HOLDINGS CORPORATION. This program is aimed at developing chemical recycling technologies that utilize end-of-life tires to achieve high-yield production of isoprene, a raw material for synthetic rubber.

Christian Konvalina has done innovative pioneering work at the Semperit site. Its scrap tire recycling facility produces valuable raw materials – among other things for new tires. In Austria and Germany alone, 700,000 tons of old tires are thrown away every year.

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) – the end-of-life tire management authority in Australia – together with Keep Victoria Beautiful (KVB) are joining forces to help the Litter Enforcement Officer Network (LEON) tackle illegal dumping and stockpiling of waste tires in local environments.

Scientists from Russia's Tomsk Polytechnic University have developed a new method of end-of-life tire recycling using ambient air direct current arc discharge plasma. According to the researchers, this method is efficient, will save companies money on end-of-life tire recycling and will produce environmentally friendly fuel.

Greenval Technologies – a Spanish company offering end-of-life tire (ELT) solutions – has announced an agreement with Spanish EPR agency TNU, to develop pyrolysis as a solution to the problem of tire disposal and recycling in Spain.

Cypriot Members of Parliament were told by the Audit Office last week that about 35 per cent of end-of-life tires imported into Cyprus every year pass through the port in Limassol without being subject to an environmental fee. Moreover, not all these waste tires are properly disposed of.
