The Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) will focus on circular economy opportunities and emerging markets at its Briefing Day 2026, scheduled for September 15 at Coombe Abbey Hotel in Coventry.

The annual event will bring together industry representatives, regulators and other stakeholders to review developments across the tire recovery, tire recycling and rubber recycling sectors. The program will place particular emphasis on expanding high-value end markets for materials recovered from end-of-life tires.

Rubberized asphalt to be a central topic

One of the main subjects will be rubber-modified bitumen and rubberized asphalt. The technology has been adopted in parts of Europe but remains less widely used in the UK.

According to the TRA, neighboring European countries produce several million tonnes of rubber-asphalt mixtures each year. The association said this points to a potential market opportunity for the British tire recycling industry, including possible demand for recycled tire materials such as crumb rubber.

The event is expected to include presentations from technical experts and market specialists on how recycled tire materials can be used in infrastructure projects while supporting circular economy and sustainability objectives.

Program to cover regulation and digital waste tracking

Alongside discussions on rubber-modified asphalt, the program is expected to address several issues influencing the future of tire recovery and recycling.

Planned topics include market opportunity analysis, regulatory updates and the impact of Digital Waste Tracking. The role of tire retailers and distributors within the circular economy value chain is also expected to be discussed.

Developing markets for tire-derived products

The conference will also examine emerging opportunities in sustainable aviation fuel, green procurement policies and other developing markets that could increase demand for tire-derived products.

The TRA said it is working to make the 2026 event its most comprehensive to date and will announce additional speakers and program details in the coming months.

Participation is free for TRA members, media representatives, industry partners and regulators. Other attendees can participate for £70 plus VAT, including refreshments and a buffet lunch.

As governments and industries across Europe continue to focus on resource efficiency and sustainable materials management, the event is expected to provide insight into how the UK tire recovery sector can identify new market opportunities and strengthen its contribution to a circular economy.
