On November 17, 2025, Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) and Tyrewise New Zealand (Tyrewise) announced the formation of the Trans-Tasman Tyre Recycling Alliance (TTRA), a groundbreaking regional body dedicated to advancing circular economy outcomes for end-of-life tyres across Australia and New Zealand. Jointly funded by TSA and Tyrewise, the alliance will operate as an independent entity, while both founding organisations maintain their separate national schemes. TTRA’s mission is to foster regional collaboration, drive innovation, facilitate knowledge exchange, and elevate industry standards initially across the Tasman region, with plans to expand engagement to our pacific neighbours in the near future.

CTS Tyre Recycling is strengthening Australia’s circular economy by moving beyond traditional recycling toward full-scale remanufacturing of rubber products. Based in Neerabup, Western Australia, the company and its manufacturing arm Throughcycle Rubber are part of the Cometti Group, a family-owned business with more than 40 years of experience in the tyre industry.

Alcoa Australia has started delivering used conveyor belts from its mining operations to Tyrecycle’s recycling facility in East Rockingham, Western Australia. The first reel arrived on 24 September, marking a new step in the partnership between the two companies. At the facility, steel wire from the belts will be reclaimed and the rubber processed into crumb for use in applications such as road construction.

On 8 July 2025, the AZuR project group on retreading met at Marangoni’s facility in Henstedt-Ulzburg to advance strategies for strengthening tire retreading in Germany and across Europe. A main focus was preparation for the second AZuR Retreading Summit, scheduled for 16–17 September 2025 at the KRONE TrailerForum. The event will bring together key players in transport and logistics to promote the circular economy through retreaded tires, with a special Logistics Day for fleet operators.
