Pyrum Innovations AG ("Pyrum"), a pioneer in the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tyres (ELT) based on its patented pyrolysis technology, has entered into a partnership agreement with the technology group Siemens. The aim of the partnership is to further promote, optimise and scale Pyrum's pyrolysis plants technologically and economically with Siemens' digitalisation and automation portfolio. Pyrum and Siemens share the goal of developing sustainable technologies as well as promoting their respective economic growth.

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) welcomes Ascenso Tyres as the newest contributor to Australia’s Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (TPSS). Ascenso manufactures and distributes specialist Off-The-Road (OTR) tires for the agriculture, construction, material handling and forestry sectors.

Pyrum Innovations AG reports further progress in the European Union’s BlackCycle project. On 24 May 2022, the successful completion of the trial campaign was celebrated. In this campaign, various process conditions regarding the composition of ELT, the temperature profile and the residence time were first extensively researched on a laboratory scale. After successful determination of the optimal reaction parameters, several experimental campaigns on an industrial scale followed.

The tire waste management scheme, RepakELT launched in Ireland two years ago demonstrated effectiveness as the country managed to recycle 97 percent of scrap tires during the first year of the project, the Irish Minister for Communications, Climate Action and the Environment, Richard Bruton T.D. said in a recent report. The official emphasized that the scheme is being further worked on as it received 15 recommendations for improvement; stakeholders are expected to consider them. Burton also stressed that it was important to make tire manufacturers take responsibility for the environmental impact of tires.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) has published its 2021 annual financial statements and, for the first time, consolidated financial statements for 2021. In the past financial year 2021, the Group achieved a total output of EUR 3.7 million, an increase of 106% compared to the previous year (2020: EUR 1.8 million). In the reporting period, the total output mainly consists of own work capitalised in the amount of EUR 2.8 million and sales, which increased to EUR 0.9 million.

Michelin has produced a new version of its motorcycle racing tire, with an even higher share of environmentally sustainable material ahead of the MotoE World Cup motorcycle racing series. The new version consists of an average of 40% sustainable material, a significant portion of which is recovered carbon black (rCB) supplied by Enviro. At the same time, Michelin has taken another step towards mass production of its tire with improved sustainability performance.
