Jim Fairweather, CEO at Tyrecycle, – an Australian tyre recycling company committed to eliminate the export of whole-baled tyres, to contribute to furthering the circular economy – reposts the company's ongoing investment in new capability and capacity with the Stage 2 development of the Erskine Park site, expected to be completed in the next few months. Additionally, a new Crumbing facility in East Rockingham, Perth, is set to come online. The Perth facility, like Erskine Park, is a multi-purpose plant capable of producing crumb rubber and various sizes of TDF for different overseas markets, including Japan and Korea.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) is planning to build a Pyrum pyrolysis plant in the Czech Republic together with a Czech energy company. A corresponding consulting contract was signed with a subsidiary of the group of companies in order to prepare the approval for the construction of the tire recycling plant and to submit the building application. The new plant with a capacity of 20,000 tons of used tires per year is being built in the Czech border region with Germany and is scheduled to start operations in 2025.

Orion S.A., a global specialty chemicals producer, the company is investing €12.8 million – including €6.4 million in funding from the German government and the European Union – to further develop and demonstrate a climate-neutral process for producing carbon black from alternative carbon sources. The technology is designed to improve Orion’s yield and throughput in the production of carbon black using circular feedstocks and thus potentially reduce the carbon footprint of the process by a significant amount.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. announced a collaboration with Sumitomo Riko Company Limited and Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. In November 2022, Sumitomo Riko announced a joint development agreement with LanzaTech Global, Inc. (LanzaTech), a US-based carbon recycling firm known for its expertise in carbon capture and utilization (CCU) technology. The three Sumitomo companies will join forces with LanzaTech aiming to pioneer groundbreaking technologies that enable a circular economy, transforming waste materials, including rubber, resin, urethane, and metal, into valuable resources.
