According to CM’s press release, the new system, which can process end-of-life car, truck and light OTR tires, features CM's brand new HT-250 Hybrid Primary Shredder integrated with a high-volume automatic infeed system. According to CM, the system’s capacity reached 30 tons per hour during runoff tests.

Dedicated to the Waste Reduction Week in Canada this October, Kal Tire – the renown global mining and OTR tire manufacturer – told how the company facilitates recyclability of its products. According to Kal Tire, its Canadian mining customers can recycle their end-of-life tires through the company’s partnership with Liberty Tire Recycling, LLC. Kal tire highlights that giant mining tires can weigh over 5 metric tons and contain high quality steel and rubber which can be recycled and repurposed. After being shredded, the rubber crumb, mulch and recycled steel can be converted into landscaping mulch and molded rubber products such as gym floors, fencing products, rubberized bricks and more.

The mining company Anglo American is moving towards a sustainable “zero-waste future” at its five metallurgical coal operations in central Queensland, Australia, through a new collaboration with Novum Energy Australia that will see rubber waste products transformed into usable raw materials. According to the source, end-of-life mining truck tires and conveyor belts from the mine sites will be supplied to Novum, who will convert the rubber into industrial products including heavy and light pyrolysis oils, recovered carbon black, syngas and steel.

In a landmark commitment, Tyre Stewardship Australia Limited (TSA) recently announced that major OTR tire importers Bearcat, Bridgestone Mining Solutions, Goodyear, Kal Tire, Michelin and Yokohama have committed to joining the voluntary Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (the Scheme) from January 2022. TSA stresses that some 140,000 tons of OTR tires are sold into the Australian market each year to industries including mining, agriculture, manufacturing, construction and aviation. Regrettably, less than 15 percent of end-of-life tires within this sector are recovered as a resource, with the majority ending up buried on site, dumped or in landfill.

Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) – the authority responsible for end-of-life tire management and regulations in the country – is calling for all property developers, facility managers, landlords and farming communities to remain vigilant ahead of the Commonwealth’s waste export ban on whole used tires coming into effect 1 December 2021. In its press release from September 21, TSA stresses the organization was established in 2014 to implement the national Tyre Product Stewardship Scheme (Scheme) which aims to promote the development of viable markets for end-of-life tires. The Scheme has multiple benefits including transforming a waste product into a useful commodity, creating new industries and employment opportunities while also reducing the environmental harm caused by the illegal dumping, stockpiling and mismanagement of end-of-life tires.

Tyrecycle reports the company is excited to be included in the NSW Environmental Trust’s latest round of grants as part of the rollout of the Australian Federal Government’s Recycling Modernisation Fund. According to the recent social media statement, Tyrecycle has secured $2.9 million in funding for a $5.8 million expansion project at Erskine Park. This facility will provide the upgrade from 6 inch to 1.5 inch TDF, provide steel cleaning facilities, and introduce Off The Road (OTR) processing and debeading.
