Residents of Montezuma County, Colorado, US, have collected and delivered over 26,000 tires to the region’s landfill amid program aimed at waste clearance and recycling, said landfill manager Mel Jarmon. The collection that involved hundreds of community representatives took place in August and lasted for a week. No charge was applied for tire drop off (normally, a $2.50 fee is charged for a light vehicle tire disposal, and $18.90 is charged per truck tire). According to the site’s manager, the county’s landfill collected more scrap tires that it was anticipated.

The Company and the Contractor have recently signed a binding Design-Build contract with a not-to-exceed price of $6.6 million, with substantial completion expected by January 15, 2020.

Eagle International – a renowned manufacturer of tire recycling equipment – reports that its Punch Cutter has become a well-established machine for cutting OTR tires into usable segments. Eagle’s patented machine is designed to punch through the tread of an OTR tire and split it into two halves down the center of the tread. Tire Business magazine reports that internationally known recovered carbon black (rCB) supplier Pyrolyx A.G. has made a series of moves to build up its still nascent U.S. operations ahead of moving its headquarters to facilities under construction in Terre Haute, Indiana. In the U.S., Pyrolyx said it has secured additional debt funding of $4.5 million and agreed to buy the assets of tire recycling business J&R Used Tire Service Inc., which is setting up a tire-shredding facility in Newport, Ind., primarily to supply feedstock to Pyrolyx. The purchase agreement is valued at $4.5 million.

A Spanish waste tire management company Signus has released a report outlining the successful implementation of rubberized asphalt mixtures in Spain; the report considers almost all projects carried out in the country with the material since 1996 up to the first quarter of 2017. The report is of great value as currently there are over 1,600 kilometres of road works using crumb rubber from end-of-life tyres (ELT) in Spain.
