Funding of $4,000 for scrap tire recycling and clearance has now become available to Kentucky counties thanks to the local authority Waste Tire Trust Fund. Gary Logsdon who manages the program explained that the funding will not be provided to cover labor and equipment costs, but it will help cover expenses for actual tire recycling and clearance of scrap tires.

Danish environmental company Genan Holding A/S has purchased an operator of Portugal’s biggest tire recycling facility, BioSafe, which is a minor of NORS S.A. – a corporation providing transporting and equipment solutions. The deal for the takeover has been already signed by the two companies, and the transaction was fully completed late April.

As previously announced by Enviro, the application pertained to the establishment of a tire pyrolysis plant on an industrial site in the Lillesjö district of Uddevalla Municipality. The facility will have the capacity to process up to 60,000 tons per year, which would suffice for the recycling of more than 60 percent of Sweden’s total annual volume of end-of-life tires. The environmental permit application for the facility was filed in mid-November of last year.
