Researchers from Australia's University of Adelaide have examined the importance of stewardship in the automotive industry to enhance sustainability. Stewardship involves protecting economic, social, and environmental assets for future generations. The team, including Dr. Tracey Dodd, Associate Professor Chee Cheong, Professor Arvid Hoffmann, and Professor Ralf Zurbrugg, reviewed existing publications and emphasized the need for business models adhering to circular economy principles. This approach includes practices like remanufacturing, recycling, and reusing materials to extend vehicle lifecycles and adopting sustainable technologies.

Ecopneus, the main operator in the management of end-of-life tires in Italy, has renewed the logo and visual communication, aiming to consolidate the positioning and recognition of Ecopneus, giving a further impetus towards the challenges and opportunities of the ecological transition that the country faces.

The three day event will take place from Monday through to Wednesday 30 May - 1 June 2022 at LE LOUISE Hotel Brussels. Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) is planning to build a Pyrum pyrolysis plant in the Czech Republic together with a Czech energy company. A corresponding consulting contract was signed with a subsidiary of the group of companies in order to prepare the approval for the construction of the tire recycling plant and to submit the building application. The new plant with a capacity of 20,000 tons of used tires per year is being built in the Czech border region with Germany and is scheduled to start operations in 2025.

CSRC group's board has approved a partnership with Eco Infinic Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SHEICO group, to invest in the recovered carbon black (rCB) business at the former site of Continental Carbon Company (CCC) Phenix plant. This joint venture aims to develop the North American market for recovered carbon black and commence production in 2026. According to CSRC, the new plant will be one of the largest in North America, with an annual capacity of 30,000 tons of rCB, 35,000 tons of tire pyrolysis oil (TPO), and 2,300 tons of steel wire. The joint venture will be 65% owned by Eco Infinic, with CSRC and CCC jointly holding 35%. Specifically, the capital contributions to the joint venture are as follows: CSRC will contribute USD 12,500,000 in cash for 21% of the shares; CCC will contribute assets worth USD 8,500,000 for 14% of the shares; and Eco Infinic will contribute USD 39,000,000 in cash for 65% of the shares.

The European Recycling Industries’ Confederation (EuRIC) – the umbrella organization for European Recycling Industries – has been holding a series of webinars “Recyclers’ Talks” aimed at, among other important topics, end-of-life tire recycling and pyrolysis. On October 5, 2021, EuRIC is holding another webinar called “End-of-Waste: Time to Move Forward”. Among other topics, the webinar will shed light of end-of-life tire management issues and practices, presented by the European Tire and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association.

On April 15, SK Energy and SK Networks announced that they will collaborate with Daeho Industries, Korea's leading retread tyre manufacturer, to develop a low-carbon circular system that utilizes scrap tyres. According to the agreement, the three parties will analyze the viability of the pyrolysis process that produces recovered carbon black and pyrolysis oil, as well as the measures to strengthen the collection and delivery system of waste tyres in South Korea.
