Pirelli North America kicked off the first closed loop circular recycling initiative within Pirelli as part of its broader strategy to increase the use of recycled and bio-based materials in its products. The project has been recognized with Tire Recycling Foundation’s Value Chain Collaboration Award.

Wastefront AS – a Norwegian waste tire recycling company – in collaboration with leading Swedish chemical engineering company Hulteberg Chemistry & Engineering AB – announced that it has been awarded a €2 million grant from Eureka Eurostars, the world’s largest funding-program for business collaborations in creating innovative products for commercialisation, and the Norwegian Research Council and the Swedish Innovation Agency. The total project-funding amounts to €2.076 million: €1.038 million from Eurostars and €1.038 million from project partners.

Goodyear has created a 70% sustainable-material content version of its Assurance all-season tire. The company is making strides toward its aim of developing a tire that is 100 percent sustainable by 2030.

Founded in 2020, Addible’s leadership team draws on decades of experience, with more than 600 scientific publications, 25 patents, and 20,000 citations to their names. Their mission: to design, develop, and commercialise green chemistry breakthroughs that drive the circular economy. OxyCycle is a flagship example — a novel devulcanisation process that reclaims valuable materials with a focus on sustainability and material quality.

Enrestec – Taiwan’s leader in end-of-life tire pyrolysis technology – and Eco Infinic – Thailand’s manufacturer of synthetic oil and carbon black from used tires – officially completed the signing of the "Phase II Engineering Equipment Sale and Purchase Contract" for the end-of-life tire pyrolysis system.

Today, scrap tires find numerous uses in many industrial applications and consumer goods. Even though the number of applications grows, there is still a huge surplus of scrap tires available for recycling and many tire stockpiles around the world will remain intact yet for decades. Researchers claim, however, that a huge number of scrap tires can be successfully reused in concrete; interestingly, not only rubber can be used to improve properties of concrete, but the bulk of other materials contained in tires, i.e. recycled steel and synthetic fibers. This article briefly summarizes findings of such researches.

The European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA) is hosting the three day event that will take place from Wednesday through to Friday 23 - 25 March 2022 at the NH Collection Hotel, Grand Sablon, Brussels. The Conference is the culmination of a year-long series of ETRA-led and supported activities and events that focused on market development and expansion for a broad array of recycled tyre materials, products and applications.
