Svensk Däckåtervinning AB (SDAB) – the Swedish Tire Recycler Association responsible for tyre recycling in Sweden – has recently opened a tire recycling plant on the premises of Tekniska verken in Gärstad, Linköping. According to SDAB, this facility, covering four hectares, will process up to half of the annual 90,000 tons of end-of-life tires collected. The plant plays a vital role in increasing material recycling, creating new applications, and enhancing the value of tire raw materials.

As of February 1st, 2023, Michael Christensen joins Genan as the new Application Development Manager, marking the second team expansion for the company this year. “As Application Development Manager at Genan, Michael Christensen will be taking on the role as link-builder between our Sales, Innovation and Marketing Teams – and he will be cooperating closely with both our Production and Quality departments. The Southern Sydney Regional Organisation of Councils (SSROC) led one of Australia’s largest multi-council projects, incorporating rubber from end-of-life tires into bitumen to enhance asphalt durability, performance, and sustainability. Conducted by RMIT University, the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) study, titled "Life Cycle Assessment and Potential Environmental Benefits of Crumb Rubber Asphalt using Field Data," revealed that recycled rubber extends pavement life, reduces raw material demand, and lowers environmental impacts.

Hernán Di Leo, ELT manager at Prometeon, is quoted in a article in Argentina's Clarin Economica as saying, "I have been in charge of recycling the tires we sell for six months. I initially believed it would be a task, but I became deeply immersed and found a wonderful activity." Prometeon is Argentina's largest distribution network, with over 1,100 people and about 120 points of sale. Although it must be made clear that the procedure only accepts high-quality tires, "the reuse of tires is a crucial to the sustainability of the business," adds Di Leo. And he adds that "a tyre requires at least 250 years to biodegrade," according to estimates. Other supplementary possibilities exist, such as tyre repair through retreading techniques. But even after retreading, a tire's usable life eventually expires. Because of this, Prometeon established its ELT Program, which entails repurposing recycled tire parts into things like playground equipment for kids, artificial turf for soccer fields, and energy sources for businesses in the cement sector.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) has received an order for pyrolysis oil, the total value of which Enviro estimates to be approximately MSEK 4.7 (USD 450,000). Behind the order is the subsidiary of a leading US oil company that submitted an initial order for oil in February of 2022 for production tests. Delivery of the order is expected over a period of about one year beginning in March 2023 and follows on from successful production testing by the customer that Enviro previously announced.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (publ) (Enviro) has hired Fredrik Emilson, former CEO of Höganäs AB, as the company's new Chief Executive Officer. Emilson takes office in February 2024 at the same time as current CEO Thomas Sörensson moves to a role as senior advisor. Fredrik Emilson comes most recently from Höganäs AB, where he worked since 2010 and from 2017 as CEO. During his time at Höganäs AB, Fredrik also held the role of European manager followed by the role of responsible for Asia. Höganäs is the world leader in metal powder solutions with sales totaling approximately MSEK 12,000 and with 2,400 employees globally.
