During the latest international trade fair IAA Mobility, Continental presented innovative technologies that set new standards. One topic of focus is sustainability. As early as 2021, the tire manufacturer focused on the use of silica from agricultural waste, polyester from recycled PET and other renewable and recyclable materials with the Conti GreenConcept concept tire. Continental has now incorporated many of these technologies into its series tires. With the UltraContact NXT, the company launched the most sustainable series tire to date last year. This underlines Continental’s claim to be the most progressive manufacturer in the tire industry when it comes to sustainability.

Bridgestone received the Supplier Award in the sustainability category from Airbus, an aerospace company. At the Global Supplier Conference on October 16 and 17, 2023 in Toulouse, France, the premium tire manufacturer was honored with the coveted supplier award for its special achievements for a more sustainable society. As part of its mission of “Serving Society with Superior Quality”, Bridgestone pursues the vision of creating social and customer-oriented added value as a sustainable solutions company by 2050. The tire manufacturer follows the values of the Bridgestone E8 Commitmet.

According to Liberty Tire Recycling – one of the biggest tire recycling companies in the United States, – roads in Floyd County, Georgia, will soon be smoother and more environmentally friendly for drivers, thanks to a Georgia EPA grant for repaving with asphalt enhanced by Liberty Tire’s SmartMIX™. A short test-strip will be paved in spring 2024 before the county begins the full project. Once implemented, the rubberized asphalt will create safer, more resilient roadways.

Fredrik Emilson assumed the position as the new CEO of Enviro on February 1. As previously communicated, former CEO Thomas Sörensson moved to a role as senior advisor within the company. Fredrik Emilson has a long history at Höganäs AB where he was the company's CEO during the period 2017-2023. During his time at Höganäs, Fredrik also held the role of Head of Europe followed by beeing responsible for the Asian market.

Around 200,000 tons from Germany exported old tires per year are mainly used in the Middle East as fuel in cement works. Around 140,000 tons of CO 2 emissions are released. The Alliance for the Future of Tires (AZuR) is therefore calling on responsible federal and state politicians to immediately ban the unregulated incineration of German export tire waste in non-EU countries.
