Hankook Tire & Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rotoboost, a Finnish company specializing in thermocatalytic methane decomposition, to jointly develop low-carbon carbon materials for use in tires. The agreement was formalized on 20 November at Rotoboost’s China office in Shanghai.

Pyrum Innovations AG and SUAS Ecology s.r.o. have a Shareholder agreement for the joint venture „SUAS reTIRE s.r.o.“ in the Czech Republic. Under the terms of the agreement, Pyrum is taking a 49 % stake in the equity of the new joint venture, which will develop, build and operate a state-of-the-art recycling plant in the Czech Republic provides. By successfully securing its equity share of around € 8.6 million, Pyrum has taken an important step towards full project financing. Another major milestone is the Conclusion of a long-term oil purchase agreement over ten years for the pyrolysis oil produced at the future plant – a strong signal of confidence in Pyrum’s technology and the future viability of the project.

The Tire Industry Project (TIP) announced the publication of a new scientific study that confirms the robustness of an improved Pyrolysis-Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (Py-GC/MS) method for quantifying tire and road wear particles (TRWP) in environmental samples. Titled “Pyrolysis-GC/MS calibration for environmental quantification of tire tread: Standards and marketplace averaged elastomer subunit profiles” and published in the peer-reviewed journal Chemosphere’s September 2025 volume, the study validates a Py-GC/MS protocol that now improves accuracy and reproducibility in quantifying TRWPs in soil and sediment, even when particle composition varies by either geography or tire manufacturing method.

Germany’s end-of-life tire (ELT) circular economy is functioning, but urgently requires political support. This is demonstrated by the latest figures presented today in Frankfurt am Main by the German Rubber Manufacturers Association (wdk). According to the association, ELT collectors and recyclers continue to face declining volumes in the domestic market.
