Warren County is seeking for a new way to recycle tires, and during the most recent Tri County Railroad Authority meeting, a few options were discussed. According to County Executive Jimmy Haley, the existing location where Warren County recycles tires has increased its cost by 40%. Recycling tires with the current company will no longer be cost-effective due to this rise.

KIAS Recycling, the only end-of-life tire plant in Austria located in Ohlsdorf, dedicated to breaking down end-of-life car and truck tires into their constituent elements to create usable materials. The Kyrgyzstan tire recycling plant, operated by a branch of Kumtor Gold Company LLC, is set to complete its testing phase by late 2024. President Sadyr Japarov recently visited the facility in Tokmok town, Chui Region. Having started test operations last year, the plant has already recycled 900,000 kilograms of tires in eight months. To further increase its contribution to reducing the harmful effects of industrial waste on the environment, APM Terminals Apapa, Nigeria has started a pilot using paving blocks made from recycled used tyres for exterior paving. This was announced in an APM’s recent press release from December 2, 2021. Studies have shown that recycling tires helps reduce the effects of harmful chemicals on the environment. Recycling also prevents tires from becoming breeding grounds for disease-carrying pests such as malaria mosquitoes. The company is running a pilot project with a Nigerian recycling facility, Freetown Waste Management Recycle Limited, to use the paving blocks at the terminal and potentially recycle the terminals own used tires in the future. Following the pilot the sustainability of the solution will be evaluated.

Van Dyck, affiliated with the tire recycler Mathe Group, has achieved Global GreenTag certification for its rubber flooring products, marking a milestone in sustainable manufacturing. The certification is particularly significant given Van Dyck's connection to the tire recycling industry, as the company produces rubber flooring from recycled materials, including those derived from end-of-life tires.

Zeppelin Systems, a plant engineering company based in Friedrichshafen and specializing in tire production and recycling, has formed a strategic partnership with Recykl Group, a Polish market leader in managing end-of-life tires. Schwalbe has started a pilot project to create an innovative bicycle tire recycling technology in conjunction with Pyrum Innovations AG and the Technische Hochschule Köln - University of Applied Sciences.
