The workshop "Rubberised asphalt between myths and reality. How to overcome the obstacles", organized under the LIFE RE-PLAN CITY LIFE and LIFE SILENT projects, aims to raise awareness about the use of Recycled Tyre Materials (RTMs) in transport infrastructure, urban planning, and sports facilities. These projects focus on promoting circular economy practices and improving the sustainability of road construction while addressing environmental and economic challenges.

Ecopneus, in partnership with Genesis Acoustic Workshop, has completed an acoustic upgrade for the rehearsal hall of the Carabinieri Band in Italy. The project involved the installation of 140 square meters of sound-absorbing panels made from recycled end-of-life tires (ELT) in a 200-square-meter hall. The use of recycled rubber helped reduce reverberation time and improve sound clarity, optimizing the acoustic environment for music rehearsals.

Ecopneus reaffirms its commitment to the extra target collection in 2024, ensuring efficiency, transparency, and strict management of financial resources. The Ministry of Environment and Energy Security has set an additional target for the collection of End-of-Life Tyres (ELTs) in 2024, urging the national ELT management system to increase the annual target by up to 10% (from 95% to 105% of the market input).

TRS Tyres Recycling Sud, in collaboration with Rub-Lab and Ecopneus, has unveiled a new asphalt stretch at its Balvano plant, constructed using rubber powder derived from end-of-life tires (ELT). The Rubberap project, a joint initiative, showcases an innovative and sustainable use of resources, promising enhanced safety, environmental sustainability, and optimal mechanical performance. The specially engineered powder, derived from recycled rubber, improves compatibility with bitumen, requiring no adaptation of asphalt plants or specific machinery for paving. This technology has been successfully tested in municipal road sections, emphasizing its eco-performance, superior resistance to traffic stresses, and long-lasting acoustic and mechanical benefits.

We were deeply saddened to read about Federico Dossena, the general manager of Ecopneus, passing away suddenly and unexpectedly. According to Tyre and Rubber Recycling magazine, Federico became ill while out walking in Trentino, Italy. He was later found by other walkers. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he could not be revived. Before joining Ecopneus, he had worked at the Mondadori Group, where he was involved in printing, paper production, and the associated recycling processes.

The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) announced the speakers for its highly anticipated 2023 Rubber Recycling Symposium which will take place on October 4-5 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. “This year’s event is going to be one for the books. Ecopneus received the recognition as Blue Ambassador issued by the scientific technical committee of the Blue Planet Economy Expoforum, an event dedicated to the blue economy organized by Fiera Roma, chaired by Roberto Morabito, ENEA General Manager, for the continuous commitment in the management of end-of-life Tires and for the research and training of new skills and professions in line with the values of the Blue Economy. The award is assigned to the most virtuous realities that have shown particular attention to the principles of the Blue Economy, especially in the formation of new professions.

Ecopneus – an end-of-life tire management authority in Italy – says that despite the difficulties linked to the health emergency, in 2021 the organization achieved important results by ensuring efficient and effective management of end-of-life tires under its responsibility, making a strong contribution to the development of the recycled rubber market and to the stability of the companies in the supply chain.
