Turkey’s capital, Ankara, will get the biggest tire recycling plant in the state amid growth of demand for recycled rubber materials. Turkey-based firm AKO Group is in charge of the facility’s operations and seeks to cut Turkey’s reliance on imported materials in strategic segments, Erkal Ozurun of AKO said. According to him, the new plant, anticipated to become operational in 2020, will be able to handle various scrap tire input, even truck tires and thick steel wire.

During the last eight month, waste management centre Tadweer based in Abu Dhabi has processed almost 7,000 tons of scrap tires at its Gulf Rubber Factory; thus, it constitutes the daily recycling rate of 28 tons of tires. The move to establish the plant was made by Tadweer with an aim to process various waste, which could be further used as raw materials. According the company’s head Salem Al Kaabi, the recycling at the factory is conducted in accordance with the top global standards. The Middle-Eastern factory, equipped with tire recycling systems from Europe capable of manufacturing crumb rubber granules of various shapes, was launched 7 years ago. The process is sustainable and environment-friendly.

Well-known New York based US tire shredding equipment manufacturer Columbus McKinnon (also known as CM Shredders) has been purchased by Bengal Machine. To cater for two separate shredding marketplaces, primary and secondary, the company will create two brands specifically targeting each – Tire Shredders and Industrial Shredders. Additionally, the subsidiary Schutte-Buffalo is expected to be remodeled into Schutte Hammermill that will deal with hammer mills and crusher products.

For its international customers, Gradeall ships its tire bailing equipment inside 20-feet shipping containers. Despite there is little spare space with the equipment inside the container, MK2 Tyre Baler fits into it with all supplementary parts. Gradeall’s equipment design enables the customer to minimize shipping costs; moreover, its helps the customer reduce the amount of reassembly when the container arrives. All hoses and electrical connections are fully labelled to make it as simple as possible to install back onto the machine when it is delivered. Video and text-based instructions are provided to customers upon delivery of the equipment.

The Canadian tire recycler Nexxsource Recycling has been transformed last November into a new company that received a name Evolve Recycling and is now headquartered in Ontario after it was purchased by North West Rubber and Moose Creek Tire Recycling. Additionally, Trillium MC Inc., MCTR’s tire hauling subsidiary has become part of the new firm.

Saskatchewan Power Minister Dustin Duncan commented on the issue stating that the accumulations of scrap tires at the old facility posed danger to health and security of the community; thus, proper management of the site is required. By teaming up with Tire Stewardship of Saskatchewan, the government is attempting to tackle the problem and put efforts to clean-up the massive tire stockpiles.

Ohio approves used tire law banning damaged tires from sale

A new legislation that prohibits mounting damaged old tires on automobiles within Ohio, US, will come into force July 1 next year after the state’s governor has signed a bill. According to the legislation, it will become illegitimate to sell tires to further use on roads if there are any damages exposing internal elements, including steel materials; or, if they have been improperly repaired; if their tread depth is less than 1/16-inches; or, if there are bulges.
