Lummus Technology, a global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, and MOL Group, the leading integrated Central Eastern European oil and gas corporation, have announced their agreement to cooperate in the deployment and integration of chemical recycling of plastics at MOL’s assets in Hungary and Slovakia. Chemical recycling of plastics is part of MOL’s commitment to collect close to 5 million tonnes of municipal solid waste, which includes the treatment and related investments.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) is participating in a three-year project at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg within the scope of an initiative to reduce the carbon footprint of West Sweden’s chemical industry. The collaboration aims to leverage increased knowledge to develop the next generation of Enviro’s pyrolysis-based recycling technology. The project is part of the innovation agency Vinnova’s ten-year Vinnväxt initiative Klimatledande processindustri (Climate Leading Process Industry). The initiative aims to support the West Sweden chemicals industry’s transition from its dependence on fossil fuel to an industry based on renewable and recovered raw materials. In addition to Enviro, other participants include Stena and the chemical company Borealis.

According to Arab Times magazine, in an incident report received by the Central Operations Department of Kuwait on Tuesday evening, June 20, the General Fire Services Directorate confirmed a fire outbreak at a tire recycling plant located on Al-Salmi Road. The magazine reports a prompt response of the fire brigade, the fire was contained, preventing its spread to other areas with stored tires. The situation was effectively dealt with and brought under control, resulting in no major injuries from the incident.

Tire Stewardship BC – a not-for-profit group dedicated to the collection and recycling of scrap tires in British Columbia – announced that it will provide an annual grant of $30,000 to Ocean Legacy Foundation (OLF) for a period of five years. This funding will support OLF in their efforts to conduct clean-up expeditions for scrap tires across British Columbia, with the aim of diverting waste from landfills and promoting circularity in the waste sector.
