News: Tire Recycling & Pyrolysis

A recent effort to smuggle illegal goods was prevented by Pakistan's Collectorate of Customs Appraisement (West), Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Karachi. They claimed that the cargo of illegal goods had a value of Rs 453 million.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum), a pioneer in the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tires (ELT) based on its patented pyrolysis technology, is closing material cycles together with BASF SE and Mercedes-Benz AG. For this purpose, Pyrum supplies the cooperation partner BASF SE with pyrolysis oil, which is used in combination with biomethane as a raw material in the production of virgin plastics for Mercedes-Benz vehicle components.

BlackCycle – the research project coordinated by Michelin and aimed to enable a massive circular economy of tires by designing world-first processes to produce new tires from end-of-life tires (ELTs) – is now followed by WhiteCycle project.

The new Extended Producer Responsibility for Waste Tyre Policy, released on July 23 by India's Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, has given the country's retreading industry a huge boost by recognizing retreaders as a necessary element of the waste tyre management system and by including retreading as an integral part of the Policy.

Grant applications are open for the $2 million federal and Victorian government-funded Victorian Circular Economy Recycling Modernisation Fund, covering recycling and remanufacturing of plastic, paper, cardboard, and tires.

LD Carbon, a waste treatment and raw material recycling company from South Korea, announced on August 16th that it had succeeded in attracting 15 million USD of “Series A” investment.
