One of the most colorful personalities in the tire recycling and pyrolysis world – Dr. Valerie Shulman – recently passed away after a long battle with cancer. Dr. Shulman made an enormous contribution to our industry and we are very sad for our loss. We would like to express sincere condolences to Dr. Shulman’s family and remind to our audience about how Dr. Shulman was supporting and developing our industry. As a Secretary General of the European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA) for over 30 years, for many Dr. Shulman was the face and voice of the Association. As Secretary General of ETRA, she helped defend interests of European tire recyclers in the highest offices in the European Commission, fighting for the future of the industry.

Autopromotec is an international exhibition dedicated to automotive equipment and the aftermarket held in Bologna from May 25 to 28, 2022, where more than 1,200 companies will participate. According to Autopromotec, the quarter of all participants are international visitors. As part of this international exhibition, the conference on “The future of tire retreading and recycling” will take place on May 26th. Weibold will be represented by pyrolysis expert Claus Lamer, who will talk about the state of the art of chemical recycling (pyrolysis) of end-of-life tires, current trends, and opportunities.

More than 3.3 million used tires the Ecuadorian Comprehensive Management System for Used Tires (Seginus) has managed to recycle since its creation in 2018. These tires were given a second use and have been used for granulating processes by 52%, in pyrolysis with 24%, cogeneration of energy with 23% and in the production of handicrafts with 1%.

Renowned Danish manufacturer of tire recycling equipment, ELDAN Recycling A/S, has developed a new sensor-based system to detect foreign objects in tire shreds and reduce the risk of breakdowns and yearly down time of its tire shredders. The ELDAN Foreign Object Detection (FOD) system consists of a sensor system monitoring the vibrating discharge conveyor following the ELDAN Super Chopper. Changes in acceleration from dense objects hitting the surface are picked up by the FOD system, which will stop the material flow of the plant and give off a warning signal. It is then easy for the operator to search through the material on the vibrating discharge conveyor, find and remove the foreign object, and continue production without further problems.

Pyrum Innovations AG ("Pyrum"), a pioneer in the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tires based on its patented pyrolysis technology, has received the first delivery of end-of-life bicycle tires by Ralf Bohle GmbH in connection with the planned cooperation of both companies. With its Schwalbe brand and a turnover of EUR 225 million (2020), Ralf Bohle GmbH ("Bohle") is Europe's market leader for bicycle tires and inner tubes. In September, Pyrum and Bohle had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the objective of which is the long-term operation, expansion and further development of a feedstock recycling system for end-of-life bicycle tires by means of pyrolysis. At the same time, the aim is to use the recovered carbon black (rCB) resulting from the recycling of end-of-life tires as an ecological secondary raw material in the production of new Schwalbe products.

On May 13, Pyrum Innovations – a German end-of-life tire pyrolysis operator – announced it had received ISO 9001 certification for its quality management in the scope of end-of-life tire recycling, production and sales of the resulting products (tire pyrolysis oil and recovered carbon black), research and development of new input materials and products, and plant design and construction. The implementation of and compliance with the quality management system according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 has been confirmed by successfully passing, Pyrum said.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum), a pioneer in the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tires (ELT) based on its patented tire pyrolysis technology, has entered into a market making agreement with Pareto Securities AS. The purpose of the agreement is to enhance liquidity in the trading of the Company's shares. The agreement is in accordance with the standard requirements of Euronext Oslo Stock Exchange. First day of market making was on 27<th> of January 2022.
